Minister Says Rajasthan Has More Rape Cases Because It’s The Land Of Men. He Claims Slip Of Tongue, But Sir Stumbled Into The Truth
The cases of violence against women, especially rape cases, are on a rise – this is not a statement but a fact. And over the years, I’ve gotten immune to listening to ridiculous statements made by the politicians, society as a whole as to why being raped is a woman’s fault. Now, I really didn’t think that it could get any dumber than ‘it is because of what she was wearing’ or ‘she was out late’ or ‘she was with a boy(s)’, but guess what it can get dumber than that. In fact, our very own Rajasthan Minister, Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said that rape cases in Rajasthan are on the rise because it is a land of men and so what can they do about it. Seriously man, couldn’t come up with anything stupider?
While addressing the Assembly, the Rajasthan Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said that the reason for a rise in rape cases in Rajasthan was because it is the land of men and what can they do about it. The video of him went viral on social media. After saying this, like most politicians, he apologised for it afterward saying he respects women. Sure.

The Rajasthan Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said, “We are number 1 when it comes to rape cases. Why is it so?…Rajasthan has been a land of men. What we can do about it?” The Minister later claimed that it was slip of tongue and that he would apologise in the Assembly later.

Shanti Kumar Dhariwal who is the Rajasthan Minister also added, “I’ve always respected women and encouraged them to participate in everything.”
I've always respected women & encouraged them to participate in everything. It was a slip of tongue, I wanted to say "iss pradesh mein ye marz kahan se aa gaya" but ended up saying "ye mardon ka pradesh hai". Honestly, his statement was more like him raising his hands up and saying “it is what it is”. C’mon, if our Ministers are the ones who are going to take such a crucial problem so lightly then who are we supposed to look for support and protection? His ‘slip of tongue’ feels less like a slip-up and more like him exposing the mentality that most Indian politicians share and that is to blame the victim. The mentality where it is always the woman’s fault and not the man’s. Stop with such rubbish cover-ups for the way men behave and stop justifying their actions. I hope he realises that we, especially women, can see through that lame-ass statement he calls an apology. If he sincerely respects women as he claims, maybe he should start showing it in his actions rather than speaking it and he could start that off by ensuring that women in Rajasthan are safe and take steps to reduce cases of violence, rape against women.
