Recently, actor Kamya Punjabi shared her heartbreaking journey of suffering domestic violence in her marriage, and how she broke through it for her daughter. The actor also opened up about how she managed to work on set despite the bruises. Read on.
Kamya Punjabi On Suffering Domestic Violence
The actor spoke about suffering domestic violence in her marriage. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Kamya Punjabi revealed that she used to wear makeup to her shoot to hide the marks. Recalling the day of an award function, the actor said that a sudden realisation hit her and she felt ashamed, and wondered about her identity. She questioned herself, “I am getting beaten at home and going to receive an award.” The actor also added that she used to cry in her bathroom, and sometimes through the night.
The actor further shared the turning point in her life. Talking about the same, Kamya Punjabi revealed that her daughter saw their fight once. And that’s when she decided to stop accepting the same life. The actor said that she took her bag, packed a set of clothes and left the house without even crying. As per her, it was the moment when she was finally breathing.
For the unversed, Kamya Punjabi was married to businessman Bunty Negi. They tied the knot in 2003 and welcomed their first child in 2009. However, the duo got divorced in 2013.
