Best Catch, Emerging Player, Prize Money And More Hightlights From Women’s Premiere League 2023

The inaugural Women’s Premiere League (WPL) ended on March 26, Sunday and it has definitely left some memorable moments for cricket fans to cherish. The final match was played between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals and the former team took home the winning prize. The female cricketers left a strong impression on the fans with their exceptional performances and there were players who were honoured with various titles giving some highlights during the first WPL season.

On March 26, Sunday, cricket fans witnessed a historic moment in the Brabourne Stadium when Mumbai Indians lifted the trophy for the first-ever Women’s Premiere League (WPL). The team defeated the Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets to secure the win.

One of the highest-paid Australian players Nat-Sciver Brunt received the player of the match. She scored a half-century against Delhi Capitals and her partnership with team captain Harmanpreet Kaur made victory possible for their team. 

The title for the best catch of the season was bestowed on Harmanpreet Kaur, for her brilliant one-handed catch during the match against UP Warriors. 

West Indian’s all-rounder cricketer Hayley Matthews took home the title of Most Valuable Player of the season. She played for Mumbai Indians in the inaugural WPL.

Another young Indian player Yastika Bhatia received the title of the Emerging Player of the season, and she played for the winning team, Mumbai Indians.

New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine who played for Royal Challenger Bangalore took home the title of the most powerful striker of the season.

Delhi Capitals Meg Lanning received an orange cap for being consistent with her scores throughout the season. In total the player made 345 runs.

The winning team received the prize money of 6 crores, whereas Delhi Capitals won 3 crores, as per the news.
