Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Nitu Ghanghas, Saweety Boora Win Gold At Women’s World Boxing Championship!
Choriyaan choron se kam hove ke hai?The Women’s World Boxing Championship was an event of immense pride for India as all four of our boxers, Nikhat Zareen, Lovlina Borgohain, Nitu Ghanghas and Saweety Boora bagged gold medals in their respective weight categories. The finals were held in New Delhi on March 26. These wins are historic in their own way, and have boughten glory to the nation on such an esteemed international platform. Nikhat Zareen secured her title as the world champion for the second time in a row, and won a gold medal. She beat Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam with a score of 5-0 in the 50 KG weight category. Nikhat Zareen went on to script history as she is the first Indian after mary Kom to have won two gold medals at the Women’s World Boxing Championship.

It was a special one for Lovlina Borgohain who won her first gold medal in the tournament. She went ahead to beat Australia’s Caitlin Anne Parker with a score of 5-2 in the 70-75 kg weight category. After bagging bronze in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the championship, this gold comes as a sweet victory for Lovlina!

The 22-year-old Nitu Ghanghas scored a stellar win against Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altansetseg by not giving the latter any chance to score a point. Ghanghas won the gold medal with a score of 5-0 in the 48 kg weight category. Nitu bagged the medal in the minimum weight category at the tournament.

Saweety Boora also went ahead to win big at the Women’s World Boxing Championship as she bagged a gold! She won in the 81 kg weight category after beating China’s Wang Lina with a score of 4-3. Nitu and Saweety became the sixth and seventh Indian boxers, respectively, to win golds at the boxing championship!
