Slowly but surely the Indian women’s cricket team is making a mark in the sport. The players have time and again made headlines for their historic wins and breaking records that were previously held by celebrated cricketers. And now, once again, they’re on the headlines for yet another benchmark. So, what is it? Well, the BCCI has announced that this time the Indian women’s cricket team will be going and attending the women’s T20 cricket event that will be held at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The Indian women’s cricket squad will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur. This will be the squad’s debut at the event. This means that this is the first time the Indian women’s cricket team is making an appearance at Commonwealth Games.

Recently, the BCCI announced that the Indian women’s cricket team will be attending the T20 cricket event at the upcoming Commonwealth Games that is scheduled to take place in Birmingham on Monday. It is Edgbaston Cricket Ground that will be hosting all the matches. The 15-member squad will be led by the Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

This is a big benchmark for the Indian women’s cricket team led by Harmanpreet Kaur as this is their T20 cricket debut at the quadrennial event that will take place at the Commonwealth Games. The team will also mark the return of cricketers like Sneh Rana, Harleen Deol, and wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatiya which was was a pleasant surprise.

As per reports, out of all those who are making a comeback, it is the all-rounder Sneh Rana’s return to the team that is notable. Previously, she had missed the Sri Lanka series owing to an injury that had kept her at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation.

The other member of the 15-member squad led by Harmanpreet Kaur includes Yastika Bhatia who was the first-choice stumper. The three players who weren’t selected include Richa Ghosh, Simran Bahadur, and Poonam Yadav.
