Aashiqui Actress Anu Aggarwal Says She Had No Sugar Daddies And Life Was Lonely In Mumbai

Bollywood might be defined as the movie industry but it gets its hits and clicks from the controversies and stereotypes attached to it. From accusations of perpetuating a culture of nepotism to several claims of the casting couch existing, Bollywood, that even though might seem glittery and gold from the outside, has its own skeletons that time and again tumble out of the closet. The latest one comes from actress Anu Aggarwal, who recently talked about her struggle in Bollywood.

Anu Aggarwal rose to fame with her hit movie Aashiqui and had made quite a name for herself after her performance in the 1990 hit. Having received several movie offers after that, a few even from Hollywood, Anu was on the ladder of success until 1999 when she met with an accident and slipped into a coma. When she regained consciousness, she did not go back to acting, but became a yogini and a writer instead.

Recalling her single life in the Mumbai city she shared how she lived a rather lonely life. “I was also managing a house alone and single. I didn’t have sugar daddies. I had a boyfriend, but he was out of the city. And with long-distance, our relationship was getting destroyed. And I was very alone and tough,” said Anu.

She went on to share more experiences that came for her after that and said, “One fine day, I decided to go to Los Angeles as I had been offered a big modelling assignment. When I went there and met them, I asked them if, with my skin colour, they would want me as the main lead. I hear people talk about racism today but 25 years ago, I knew that the girls who were the main leads were all fair. At that time, I was already on the top in my country, so why would I do a side role even if they paid me a lot of money,” pointing out the racism that existed then, as it still does now.

Anu Aggarwal then returned home and started focusing on learning yoga and meditation. Having survived a terrible accident and coming out of impossible odds, Anu’s life has been but simple. And with or without “sugar daddies” in the industry, seems like Anu did find a way for herself, that kept her healthy and alive.
