Woman From Assam Drags Man And His Scooter Into A Drain After He Gropes Her In Public. He Deserved It

I will never forget the day I was groped at a busy traffic signal in Bandra. I was sitting in a rickshaw with my mother, who was going on and on about the dress we just bought. As the signal turned red and our rickshaw came to a halt, a man on a bike aggressively grabbed my thigh and then my stomach and zoomed off. I blanked out for 10 seconds and then my mother and I started screaming for someone to stop him but by then his bike was out of sight. Without going to the police, we simply returned home. I felt a sense of shame and disgust. Especially because I hadn’t done anything about it.

That traumatic experience and several smaller incidents have made me overly cautious. They’re also why I have tremendous respect for women who stand up and defend themselves. I say this after reports of a woman, Bhavana Kashyap, from Assam make headlines after she dragged her harasser’s scooter into a gutter to teach him a lesson.

Bhavana, obviously shaken by the incident, took to Facebook to share her experience. She said that a stranger, now identified as Madhusana Rajkumar approached her and asked for directions to Sinaki Path in the city. When she politely said that she didn’t know and suggested that he should ask someone else, Madhusana came closer and groped her breasts. After blanking out for a few seconds, Bhavana knew that she couldn’t let him get away. So, she held onto his scooter and with all the strength that she could muster she dragged it and pushed it into an open drain.

She wrote in her Facebook post, “No sooner these words came out of my mouth than he groped my privates (breasts) in a way that he had a sudden sexual outburst of rage and aggression on my body. For a second I lost sense of what had just happened. But seeing him try to elope, I spared no second thought and dragged him with the highest strength my body could exhibit in such an uncanny situation. While he kept racing his scooty up, I kept lifting his back tyre and sustained some half a minute of wordless tussle until I could finally push to drag him down into the drain.”

As soon as she used her newfound strength to teach that man a lesson, people started gathering around them. Bhavana narrated the entire incident to them and in a viral video showing the aftermath, you can hear people yelling and refusing to help the man. They also showered Bhavana with praises for how she handled the situation. Soon, the Assam police arrived on the scene and filed an FIR against the man.

Bhavana wrote in her post, “The witnesses had applauded how I handled the situation with courage and strength but let me express that the strength I could showcase today is a result of some similar traumatic experiences me and my friends had gone through back in Delhi, where the culprits could successfully get away with before we could register what had just happened.”

We love her spirit. The way she taught her harasser a lesson is inspirational. In most cases like this one, the lecherous men get away with groping, molesting or catcalling women. But we are so glad Bhavana ensured that didn’t happen. Hopefully, all the women reading this will learn something from Bhavana. I know I have.
