This USA Couple Tried To Hold A Wedding At A Luxurious Mansion That Was Not Theirs. WTF!?!

They say that girls dream of a perfect wedding from a very young age. I never had that dream. In fact, up until I was 20, I couldn’t care less. I always told everyone I wanted an intimate court wedding. However, in the last few years, my views have changed drastically. Mainly because my mother has brainwashed me. But now I find myself daydreaming about things like my bridal lehenga or having the perfect venue. I now see how those things are important. But here’s an interesting question I ask myself often, how far will you go to procure that dream venue for your wedding? Will you settle for whatever is available around your date or will you get the venue you want by hook or by crook? The couple we are talking about today would clearly choose the latter option. You see they trespassed on a mansion and wanted to hold their wedding there. They would’ve gotten away with it too if the owner hadn’t been home on the day they were supposed to get hitched. That must’ve been such an awkward conversation!

On Sunday, Courtney Wilson and Shenita Jones invited their friends and family to a multimillion-dollar mansion near Miami for the weekend. According to reports, they planned to have a weekend-long wedding celebration at the, wait for it, 16,300-square-foot mansion. The only problem? Neither did the couple own this luxurious mansion nor did they have the permission to use it as a venue for their wedding. However, they didn’t let any of those technicalities stand in the way. In fact, the groom, Wilson, said that it was God’s plan that the couple has their wedding there.

Before I tell you more about how their dubious, but very jugaadu, plans went down the drain, let me tell you more about the mansion. The suburban Fort Lauderdale estate has everything you could ever dream of and more. A bowling alley, swimming pool with a waterfall, hot tub, tennis courts, a gazebo and an 800-foot bar. It also has nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Now, who wouldn’t want to get married and possibly even live there? But the couple should’ve probably gone down the non-sneaky path.

I should probably also mention that the 5.7 million dollar mansion is up for sale. Months before the wedding, Wilson, the groom, posing as an interested buyer, visited it and took several photos. He assumed that no one lived on the property and invited all his friends and family over for the wedding festivities. These included a red-carpet cocktail on Saturday afternoon and a breakfast on Sunday morning. Little did he know that the owner of the mansion, Nathan Finkel, actually lived elsewhere on the property. Yikes.

On Saturday morning, when the groom and another person arrived to set everything up they ran right into Nathan Finkel who was obviously stunned. Nathan quickly called emergency services and told the 911 dispatcher, “I have people trespassing on my property,” Finkel told a 911 dispatcher. “And they keep harassing me, calling me. They say they’re having a wedding here and it’s God’s message. I don’t know what’s going on. All I want is (for) it to stop. And they’re sitting at my property right at the front gate right now.”

When the police arrived on the scene, they encouraged the wedding party to leave. They didn’t make any arrests. Keith Poliakoff, attorney for Southwest Ranches, the upscale suburb where Finkel resides said that a few months ago, Wilson had asked Nathan if he could use the mansion’s backyard for the wedding. But Nathan had downright refused. Of course, Wilson went right ahead and tried to pull a fast one which backfired horribly.
Keith Poliakoff said, “The guy figured it was a vacant house and didn’t realize Nathan lived on the property in a different home. This guy had no idea he lived there. You know the shock that must have been on his face when he showed up at the gate and the owner was home?”

I just wish I could be a fly on the mansion’s wall to see how both, Wilson and Nathan, reacted when they each realised what was happening. This is so hilarious, I can’t stop laughing to myself. Of course, it’s not funny for the couple whose elaborate and luxurious wedding got cancelled. But maybe they should have tried to procure a wedding venue through honest means. The moral of the story is that jugaad doesn’t always work the way you want it to.
