Latest Research Shows COVID Vaccine Does Not Affect Placenta In Pregnant Women

There are two kinds of people in the world right now. Those that put in years of effort, actually studied the human body and it’s functioning and then got a degree. They are doctors. Then there are the other kind- the ones that quickly search whatever is trending on Google and then add on their two, completely unimportant cents to the information and pass it around as gospel. These are graduates of Whatsapp University and anything they say or pass on or forward needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. A very generous pinch. Maybe take it with an entire fist of salt. And when it comes to COVID news, a lot of these people consider themselves the singular source of information. Which is scary because they pass on quite a bit of incorrect news. Like that about vaccines and pregnant women.

News outlets have continued to put out information about how vaccines don’t affect fertility or any other update in this department while WU graduates vehemently thwart all efforts to show the effectiveness of vaccines. So our suggestion is that you read up on COVID and vaccines from trusted news sources and not from the forwards on your phone.

The current news about the vaccine in India is that breastfeeding and lactating women are not to take it. However, there are no such rules in Brazil and the US. Now, a new study published recently in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology has found that COVID-19 vaccines can be safely administered to pregnant women and that there is no evidence of injury to the placenta.

Corresponding author Dr Jeffery Goldstein, who is the Assistant Professor of Pathology at Northwestern University, was quoted on the website saying, “The placenta is like the black box in an airplane. If something goes wrong with a pregnancy, we usually see changes in the placenta that can help us figure out what happened. From what we can tell, the Covid vaccine does not damage the placenta.”

Of course, there has been plenty of back and forth on this, with studies showing adverse effects on the placenta, to other ones proving that it doesn’t so the jury is out on this. The latest on the vaccine development front is that it does not affect the placenta.
