Karnataka Hijab Row: Congress Urges State Govt To Allow Students To Take Exams Wearing Hijab Of Colour Of Uniform
In our world, it takes no time to create a major issue but to find solutions for it, it takes more than a couple of hundred years. The same thing is happening with the Karnataka hijab row, recently a Congress leader urged the Karnataka government to allow Muslim students to write exams wearing hijab of the same colour as their school uniform.
UT Khader, Karnataka’s deputy leader requested Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayana and primary Education Minister B Nagesh to allow the Muslim students to write exams wearing hijab of the same colour as their uniform. He made the request while addressing the assembly during the ongoing legislative session. He mentioned that writing this exam is very crucial for the future of those Muslim students.
Congress Legislative Party leader Siddaramaiah was also one of those people who demanded that the state government should allow the students to take the exam.

However, B Nagesh – the minister for Primary Education stated, “we have to follow high court order.” According to the reports, the pre-University education board issued a circular in February stating that the students cannot wear any religious attires on college premises and only have to wear the uniform approved by the school administration. It also mentioned that if a uniform is not prescribed by the administration, then students can wear dresses that do not disturb the social order, as per reports.

Earlier, the Karnataka High Court had pronounced the verdict in the hijab ban case and upheld the ban. The court also declared that educational institutes can prescribe uniforms. After the judgment, many Muslim students started protesting against the verdict by boycotting classes and examinations. Now, the petitioners filed an appeal in the Supreme Court.
