Bhojpuri Actor Commits Suicide After Fake NCB Officers Arrest Her To Extort Money

I think it is pretty common news to see celebrities have run-ins with the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau). Many Bollywood stars have been summoned by them and questioned in the past year. Since then, the security around illegal substances has become very strict with the police being super vigilant. There have been many reports of people from the common public getting caught with these substances. However, unlike big celebs, most people cannot afford to handle such major run-ins with the law. And many are taking advantage of the fear that this situation has generated. Recently two people faked being NCB officers to extort money out of a Bhojpuri actor in Mumbai, pushing her to commit suicide.

The actor had recently attended a party with friends where two men posing as NCB officers arrested them for consuming drugs. The Amboli police arrested the two men, who had demanded ₹ 20 Lakhs from the actor and her friend at a rave party in a hotel in Mumbai’s Santacruz. The 28-year-old actor used to work in Bhojpuri movies and stayed at Jogeshwari West. She died by suicide at her house on December 23 due to the threats made by the accused men. Police took suo motu action and filed an FIR for the matter.

According to reports, an officer said, “The deceased and her friends got scared and requested them to settle the issue. The accused demanded ₹40 lakh and finally settled at ₹20 lakh.” The actor’s friend told the police that she was very distressed and had slipped into depression over arranging such a huge amount of money. Asir Kazi, a friend of the actor, was also a part of the extortion racket.

32-year-old Suraj Pardesi and 28-year-old Pravin Walimbe were arrested. Kazi and 2 other accused were untraceable. An FIR was registered under IPC sections 170 (personating public servant), 420 (cheating), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), sections 306 (suicide abetment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 384, 388 and 389 (extortion).

I genuinely have no comments about this other than sheer pity for the young actor. I will never be able to understand the mentality of not only cheating people but ruining their entire lives over the pursuit of money. Let’s hope the people that are behind this get caught soon.
