In Bengaluru, A Woman Secretly Recorded Videos Of Other Women In Compromising Situations To Ensure Her Boyfriend Marries Her

How far have you gone to impress a man? I know women who have cut off their hair and changed the course of their career to ensure their boyfriend’s stuck around. It’s baffling but that’s what happens most of the time. However, today I came across an article about a woman who went above and beyond to impress her boyfriend. She began making compromising videos of her colleagues and sending them to him. Spoiler alert: she was arrested. 

The accused, Ashwini, is a staff-nurse at a private hospital in Whitefield, Bangalore. According to reports, she was caught red-handed by security trying to make a video of a woman in the washroom. The woman was then arrested on 5th December after further investigations proved that this was a case of voyeurism. Apparently, Ashwini revealed that she was recording other women to ensure that her boyfriend married her. Erm, maybe the massive irony of that logic was lost on her. 

Both Ashwini and her boyfriend, Prabhu, are now in custody. Preliminary investigations showed that Ashwini’s phone was full of videos of her colleagues in the hostel in compromising situations. She had shared all these videos with her boyfriend but had no idea what he did with them. Wow, talk about a trusting relationship.

The police said that they had to work fast to find out whether the videos had been circulated on social media or were used to blackmail the women. After they arrested Prabhu, it was clear that the videos were never further circulated. 

Ashwini and Prabhu’s love affair started with a wrong number phone call in 2017. Prabhu, who is a cook in Chennai, called Ashwini by mistake but the two grew closer. Ashwini expressed a desire to marry him and that’s when Prabhu started avoiding her since she was a divorcee. She told him she would do anything. Police claim that Ashwini had made all these videos to impress Prabhu when he demanded them. He claims that after seeking “voyeuristic pleasure”, he deletes the videos. Well, it’s a relief that Prabhu and Ashwini didn’t exploit the sensitive content but that doesn’t make it any better. 

This whole ordeal is horrifying. Girls go to great lengths to impress their boyfriends but what Ashwini did is just pushing it. Making videos of other girls in the washroom and in compromising situations to please her boyfriend. It even sounds stupid. She did all this to get Prabhu to marry her, but is it even worth marrying a man like him? No, it’s most definitely not.
