However, now we should look forward to the first Women’s Premier League 2023, the auction for which was held on February 13, Monday. The final list of sold, and unsold players with the teams they will be playing for is out! And one thing to be noted here is that our Indian cricket player, Smriti Mandhana came out to be the highest-paid cricket player in this auction for the Women’s Premiere League!

The Women’s IPL 2023 will be the first and it has got us all really excited. The auctions that took place for the WPL saw Smriti Mandhana come out as the most expensive player and she was taken by Royal Challengers Bangalore. The same team that was led by Virat Kohli in the men’s IPL. Nat Sciver-Brunt from England was auctioned for Rs. 3.2cr and was picked by Mumbai Indians whereas Australian player Ashleigh Gardner was picked by Gujarat Giants for Rs. 3.2cr.

Second on the list of Indian players to be sold off at a higher price after Smriti Mandhana was Deepti Sharma at Rs. 2.6 crores and she will be playing for UP Warriorz. Hamanpreet Kaur was auctioned for Rs.1.8 crores by Mumbai Indians and Shafali Verma for Rs. 2 crores by Delhi Capitals, as per the news.

Some players like Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka), Suzie Bates (New Zealand) Tazmin Brits (South Africa), Heather Knight (England) and Danny Wyatt (England) remained unsold at the Women’s Premiere Leagues 2023 auction.
The Women’s IPL has been announced to start in March of 2023, and the entire schedule is yet to be released by the BCCI. However, the auction was an impressive one and we are all hoping the Women’s IPL to be a success!
