This Japanese Woman Hasn’t Cut Her Hair In 15 Years. She Has 6 Feet Long Hair!

I have always had a bitter-sweet relationship with my hair. Some days I am obsessed with my curls. I can’t get enough of flaunting them. But then there are days where it feels like my hair is tired of me. They frizz out making me look like a pomeranian (no offence to Pomeranians). The thing is though, I have had to learn to maintain and groom my hair and let me tell you, it’s not as easy as all these beauty bloggers make it look. It’s a herculean task. This is why when I read about this Japanese woman who is living out her Rapunzel fantasy with locks that measure up to 6 feet, I needed a minute to pick my jaw off the floor. How does she handle this much hair?

35-year-old Rin Kambe has not cut her locks in 15 years. Her locks measure up to 6 feet and even touch the ground when she walks. She sees her hair as a ‘weapon’ of self expression. While I love her logic behind growing her hair out, I must say it takes guts to grow hair this long. Rin, who is a model and dancer, hasn’t cut her hair for 15 years now, ever since she turned to Buddhism.

Rin told Daily Mail that she uses a special scalp cream made from saffron and monitors her iron intake to help her hair grow. Am I the only one wondering how she deals with hair fall? Or how long she takes to wash her 6-feet long locks? It’s really amazing that she is pulling this off and so gracefully.

In the interview, she was asked what her reason is to not cut her hair. She said, “I grew up with strict parents and when I was a kid, I was on the girls’ soccer team and always had a short cut because of this.” Later, at the age of 20, Rin decided to take control of her own life and to grow out her hair. She wanted to “shine in [her] own way”.

Talking about her beautifully luscious locks, Rin said, “About 15 years ago, when I started to earnestly pray for my dream as an artist, I decided to cut the dyed part of my hair and grew my super long natural hair beautifully, because it felt like natural, beautiful, super-long hair was a weapon of dance expression. There are people in the world who appreciate it, and there are also people who think it is a monster of hair.”

Rin has a thriving social media presence and enjoys a following of nearly 32.4 K followers. She often posts pictures of her 6-feet long locks.
