The climate change initiative got all the more attention after the Swedish climate activist, Greta Thunberg, brought the issue to light when she was just 15 years old! What comes as surprising yet interesting news from Sweden is that another climate change champion has been appointed as the country’s first climate minister! Yes, you read that right! Romina Pourmokhtari has been appointed as the climate minister, and she also happens to be the youngest person to hold office!

As per reports, Romina Pourmokhtari is a 26-year-old and is also the youngest person to lead the department. Romina was elected by the newly elected Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson’s cabinet of ministers. Pourmokhtari previously was a part of the Liberal party’s youth wing. Interestingly, she does not have climate as part of her political portfolio. Also, Ulf Kristersson is the head of the right-wing coalition party, and Romina has not been his fan. Romina Pourmokhtari is of Iranian origin and becomes the youngest person in 27 years to hold a post in the government.

Earlier this year, Romina was also named Sweden’s most powerful under 30 list by Expressen, which is one of the leading dailies of the country. Taking to her Instagram, she thanked the newspaper for including her name in the list.
