“Spousal Support Not Needed”, Says Melinda Gates In Her Petition For Separation From Bill Gates

After 27 years of staying together and building an empire that made Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, the fourth richest man in the entire world, he and his wife, philanthropist Melinda Gates have decided to part ways. Coming as a shock to almost everyone, people were taken aback by the news, with some celebrating the newly announced single-status of Bill Gates with hilarious memes and fake tinder profiles, while others contemplating over how the $146 billion estate would be split up between the two.

The former power couple announced the big news in a joint statement on Twitter where they shared how “after a great deal of thought and a lot of work” on their relationship, they had decided to go their separate ways. The statement read, “Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives,” also adding, “but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.”

Further to this, the statement also mentioned how this would have no impact on their work and involvement together towards the “foundation (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation)”, which is where most of Bill Gates stake is touted to be in.

However, as per a recent report obtained by the People, Melinda Gates filed for divorce from Bill Gates late Monday afternoon, and the petition which was filed in King County, Washington, states how she went ahead to state that “spousal support is not needed.”

Turns out, the couple does not have a prenuptial agreement, and so will divide their assets according to a separation agreement, as mentioned in the petition that was filed by Melinda Gates. It also stated her saying, “We ask the court to dissolve our marriage and find that our marital community ended on the date stated in our separation contract.”

In the same petition it was also mentioned how the marriage was “irretrievably broken,” still giving us almost no insight into what the real reason for the separation is. However, what stunned us here was Melinda denying any spousal support for the lack of a prenup and even suggesting that their property and debts to be split according to a separation contract they had drawn up.

Seems like, amicable break ups really do exist!
