PV Sindhu Smashes Her Way To The Singapore Open Final After A Commanding Win Over Japan’s Saena Kawakami

Let’s face it, women in India are ruling sports right now. They are making history after history and breaking records like no one’s business and I, for one, am here for it. It is their time and they’re showing the country how it is done – that too in style. Just take the instance of the Indian shuttler PV Sindhu. Yep, the badminton player is back to grabbing headlines with her mind-blowing performance at the Singapore Open. But that is not all. This time she is back in the headlines for storming her way into the Singapore Open title clash after winning the game over a lower-ranking Japanese player Saena Kawakami in the women’s singles semi-final.

On Saturday, the double Olympic medalist, PV Sindhu, smashed her way into the Singapore Open final after her commanding win over Saena Kawakami, a lower-ranking badminton player from Japan, in the women’s singles semi-final in Singapore.

PV Sindhu who has claimed two Super 300 titles at Syed Modi International and Swiss Open in the year 2022, has prevailer 21-15 21-7 over world number 38 Saena Kawakami in a 32-minute last-four badminton match in the Singapore Open semi-final.

As per the reports, the 27-year-old badminton player who has won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in 2022, is now literally one win away from her maiden Super 500 title of the 2022 season. PV Sindhu will be facing the winner of another semi-final match between Aya Ohori of Japan and Wang Zhi Yi of China. The finals will be held on Sunday.

Commenting on the semi-final match, PV Sindhu looked to be completely in command over the semi-final match against Saena Kawakami at the Singapore Open. While Kawakami just couldn’t control the shuttle and made a tonne of errors during the match that ultimately led to her defeat. The power in her stroke and her whipping smashes, helped Sindhu to get a three-point lead at the break. Overall, the Japanese had no answer to the Indian’s attacking forehand returns and deft backhand flicks that paved the way for the latter’s win.
