One Movie Old Janhvi Kapoor Says Acting Can Get Monotonous. People Would Kill To Be In Her Place. Privilege Much?
With a population of over 2 crore people, Mumbai is one of the most populous cities in the world. At the risk of this sounding like something out a sociology lecture, one of the major reasons for this hike in population is migration. After all, Mumbai is known as the city of dreams! Thousands of people flock to the city every day to try and make their dreams come true. Out of these thousand, nearly 200-300 people migrate to Mumbai to try their hand at acting. I’m not joking, just take a walk down Lokhandwala and you will know.
So, why am I telling you’ll all this? Because when a star kid like Janhvi Kapoor who has had an acting career practically handed to her on a silver platter, calls acting monotonous, it reeks of privilege and nepotism. I am so sure, if even one of those struggling actors had even half the opportunities she has had thanks to her lineage, they would embrace the monotony in a second. Don’t get me wrong, I do not intend to add fuel to the nepotism battle. All I am saying is she could be a little more grateful.
At a special screening of a short-film named Sepia, Janhvi said “I have recently done a short film for Netflix and I had a very enjoyable experience working on it. It feels good to work in a short film because mostly we do a film’s shoot over 50 to 60 days. It becomes very monotonous after a certain point. In a short film, however, you go in with a lot of energy and the shoot is over quickly, without distractions. In feature films, most of the time you have to juggle between two to three shots, unlike a short film where you get the chance to finish shooting at one.”

I see her point, it must get exhausting to shoot for two-three movies together. But she is one movie old in this industry. I really want to know on what basis is she calling acting monotonous when she hasn’t even dipped her toes into Bollywood entirely.
Janhvi has a lot going for her in 2020. She will be featured in Zoya Akhtar’s segment of Ghost Stories which releases on Netflix on 1st January 2020. On the Bollywood front, she will be seen in Sharan Sharma’s Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Hardik Mehta’s Roohi Afza and Collin D’Cunha’s Dostana 2.

If I had a year that looked like that ahead of me, I would be squealing in excitement, not calling my work dull and boring. Besides, as an outsider, I really fail to see how acting can get monotonous. I mean think about it, as an actor you get to live so many lives by playing different characters. It isn’t a 9-5 job that makes you want to pull your hair out. Not to mention if you are successful not only do you earn more money than you know what to do with, you also have a gigantic fan following.
Exactly how is any of that “monotonous”? Forgive me, for being a little confused as to what exactly she is trying to say.
