Twitter Enraged Over Split Karnataka Hijab Row Verdict, Says People Should Be Allowed To Choose
With the ongoing issues with Iran regarding the enforcement of the hijab on women and women being killed over the hijab, I feel like no matter where I look, women’s choice of clothing is being questioned and monitored. Moreover, men are being given the power make decisions for women about what they should be wearing. And the situation in India is no different as there is an ongoing hijab row within the country. The Supreme Court has given a very split judgment on the Karnataka hijab row with one for it and one against it. Twitter has a lot to say about the split decision and people are asking why women’s choice of clothing is being questioned.
This is for those who cries by thinking that I didn't spoke anything on the Hijab row. My stand is very clear: Everyone should enjoy the freedom of their life. Women can wear what they wish. People shouldn't advise, punish or kill a Women for not wearing the dress they want. pic.twitter.com/aMMDlUC6Rl

#hijab row verdict split. Saw someone on TV evoking Iran over Hijab. Exactly it boils down to the right to choice, whether you want to or you don’t. It’s all about the choice

Even bilateral cricket matches are held in the odd number of matches mostly so as to clearly decide the series winner, but #SupremeCourtOfIndia judges are best examples of wasting the taxpayers' money and time for the zero output due to Monkey balancing.#HijabVerdict https://t.co/AsiY5zogEz

Let women choose what they want to wear.
Men giving split verdicts are bizarre
and patriarchal.

Also, many of the tweets bring out a good point which I feel many might have thought of. Why isn’t the education of all these girls being prioritised? Not only did they miss out on their academic year but they will have to continue to do so until there is a decision. According to my understanding, the hijab is not a necessity for women to wear. HOWEVER, it is a form of worship for many Muslim women which makes them feel closer to their faith and God. So, are we taking away the right to worship from them? Especially when it is not causing anyone harm. I don’t see why Muslim women are being made to choose between an education and their faith. Because I went to a school where students would wear certain aspects of the religion and no one had an issue with this. So are these rules only being made for Muslim female students or are students from other religions being asked to follow the dress code just as strictly? Because if not, the glaring hypocrisy is getting harder to ignore.
