In Ghaziabad, A Woman Rode A Bike While Her Friend Sat On Her Shoulder. Got Fined Rs. 28000

Ever since I turned 18, my father has been trying to teach me how to drive. Despite all his efforts and much to his dismay, I am a horrible driver. I get too anxious and too impatient behind the wheel. I really don’t need to tell you that this combination is a recipe for disaster. However, if I was a good driver I would be one of those people who are excessively careful and follow all traffic laws. No matter what you say, you will agree that driving on Indian roads is a task. In fact, it should be one of the tasks on Roadies or Fear Factor because it seems like some people lose all sense of decorum, personal safety and civility when they get behind the wheel. Just look at these two women from Ghaziabad. One woman was sitting on the shoulders of another woman who was riding the bike. Though it looks cool, it’s an incredibly stupid stunt to attempt.

The two girls not only performed this stunt but also posted a video of it online which has now gone viral. In the video, social media influencer Shivangi Dabas can be seen sitting on the shoulders of wrestler Sneha Raghuvanshi as she rides a bike in Ghaziabad. After the video went viral, the Ghaziabad police levied a massive fine on the two women. Collectively, they have to pay Rs 28,000 for riding a bike in the ridiculous way that they did. I am just wondering why couldn’t have Shivangi just sit on the passenger seat behind the driver?

The Ghaziabad police have sent a challan worth Rs 11,000 to Sneha Raghuvanshi’s mother Manju Devi. While the owner of the bike used in the stunt video was fined Rs 17,000. The video that seemed to have been shot on Saturday has generated an uproar. Mainly because both the women are in their early twenties and have just received their learner’s licence.

Speaking to reporters, Shivangi said that the video that they posted went viral and also reached the police. She said, “On Saturday, we had shot the video near Madhuban Bapudham and I posted it on Instagram, which went viral and caught the notice of the media. So, we are in a soup. We had no idea that this would snowball into a major controversy.”

In her defence, Shivangi said that they shot this video “just for fun” and chose a safe spot to perform this stunt. I understand wanting to generate views as a content creator but there are some lines you just don’t cross. Like putting yourself and someone else at risk, for instance. At the very least, the two women should’ve at least worn helmets. I really want to know what prompted them to attempt this very obviously dangerous stunt that could’ve gone very wrong very fast. It’s just ridiculous.
