Everything You Need To Know About The Woman Standing On Top Of The Burj Khalifa In That Emirates Ad

The world of advertising has come a long way since Amul first came up with its infamous tagline ‘The taste of India’ in the 90s. Everyone knows the jingle, right? It’s playing in my head as I write this. There are only a handful of products that will go down in history with the most epic advertisements. Most of these ads are from the 90s and the early 2000s. They’re all classics. But today, I stumbled upon an advertisement that left me dumbfounded. It is definitely going on the advertisement wall of fame. If you’ve been on social media today then you know that I am talking about the new Emirates ad that is going crazily viral.

Emirates, the largest airline and the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has outdone itself when it comes to this advertisement. It features a woman, dressed up as an Emirates flight attendant, standing on top of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The real shocker came when we found out that this ad wasn’t shot using any special effects or a green screen. This woman, identified as Nicole Smith-Ludvik, a professional skydiving instructor, has climbed on top of the world’s tallest building to shoot this. She is literally on top of the world.

The 30-second advert opens with Nicole standing with a placard that reads, “Moving the UAE to the UK Amber list has made us feel on top of the world. Fly Emirates. Fly better.” As the camera pans out, we can see that she is standing atop the Burj Khalifa with a spectacular view of the Dubai skyline behind her.

On her personal Instagram, Nicole shared the ad and wrote, “This is, without a doubt, one of the most amazing and exciting stunts I’ve ever done. A big shout out to Emirates Airlines for your creative marketing idea! It was a pleasure being a part of the team!” According to her Instagram bio, Nicole is not only a professional skydiving instructor. She is also a “world traveller, skydiver, yoga instructor, hiker and adventurer”. She is also one of the few people in the world who have had the privilege of standing on top of the Burj Khalifa, which stands at around 828 metres above the ground.

As soon as this ad was released, people cast doubt over how it was shot. Almost immediately, Emirates dropped a BTS video. In it, we can see Nicole being prepped and actually climbing to the top of the building. Once she reached the top, she said, “Hi mom, I’m on top of the world”. This BTS video shows how the ad was planned and we love it.
