Exclusive: Heeramandi Star Aditi Rao Hydari Recalls Her First Day On Padmaavat Set: “I Felt Like I Was Disappointing Sanjay Leela Bhansali”

Actors consider working with him as an honour, and Aditi Rao Hydari is working with the director for the second time. She has turned for SLB in his Netflix debut series Heeramandi. In an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly, the actress recalled her first day on shoot for Padmaavat, her first movie with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Aditi Rao Hydari revealed that her first day ended on a disappointing note but eventually it changed. She also spoke about SLB as a supportive director.

Aditi Rao Hydari On First Day Of Padmaavat Shoot
Heeramandi star Aditi Rao Hydari spoke about the number of takes she took on the first day of her shoot for Padmaavat. She said “I has just finished shooting a romantic film with Mani Sir, and three days I was on the Padmaavat set. I remember Ranveer telling me that Aditi you’re living the dream. At that, I was taking it all in but then it just struck me that well, I am really blessed. And then I went for my shot for this particular scene where I am saying talking about some kabuli pulao, and then I did the scene once. But Sir told me to do another take and like that I took some 12 takes.”
Elaborating on the same Aditi Rao Hydari stated, “I felt like I am done, but Sir gave very fine instructions. It was my first day and I felt like I don’t anything and I don’t want to disappoint. But then he called me and said that he got what he wanted after the 13th day. But I really felt that I was disappointing him on my first day but from the next day it completely changed. It was so much fun, I felt loved and Sir was always guiding me.”

Talking about her shoot for Heeramandi, Aditi Rao Hydari said, “The scenes weren’t complicated to shoot, but for dance, the two mujras that I shot, that almost caused me to be on the brink of tears. Not because I was sad on anything, it was just that there is so much love and respect for Sir that you just don’t want to disappoint him. There were not many large number of takes but they were lengthy takes. I was doing chakkars for the song and I felt that my hands would just fall off.”

Talking about her dancing skills, Aditi Rao Hydari said “I am not trained in Kathak but I so wanted to make Sir proud.”
