Lizzo Announces Her Shape Wear Label Yitty, Wants Every Girl To Love Her Body

Well, it now never comes to me as a surprise, when a celebrity takes a step into the business world. Then be it makeup, skincare, clothing or even production, stars across the globe have added another feather to their hat and a name joining this list is Grammy-winning, singer Lizzo. Yes, the “Rumors” singer is stepping into the land, where Kim Kardashian has been crowned and how. With a line of shape wear that takes cues from her personal experiences and behind the dressing room struggles, Lizzo’s Yitty aims to change the way women feel about their bodies.

And joining her on this ride is Kate Hudson’s Fabletics, that wishes to explore the wider spectrum of self-love and body positive designs. Sharing the idea behind the label, and conversations that led her to inaugurate one, Lizzo said in a statement, “I felt that I was constantly being told through TV and magazines that my body wasn’t good enough.” Well, something we’re all at times told by the eyes, scanning our bodies. Just like a million other women around the world, Lizzo expressed how the idea of ‘fitting in the box’ led her to the painful, uncomfortable journey of fashion. Channelling the traumas that resided in her system, eversince the seventh grade, Yitty indeed is a fresh approach to the concept of shape wear–which by the name of it is willing to seal the ‘excess.’

For Lizzo, who has been consistently working towards the brand, with multiple tie-ups with designers, fabric engineers to help deliver her vision, aims to revolutionise the category.

The brand is all set to launch on April 12, 2022, with its first drop–Nearly Naked, followed by Mesh Me and Major Label. The first few images gracing our screens, have already delivered a glimpse of the brand’s much-pop colour palette that is unapologetic and fierce. Catering to a size chart starting from 6X to an extra small, Yitty’s all three collections will include various under and outerwear options, and athleisure that is sexy and comforting. Well, I believe body positivity has become a tool for many labels to help navigate their way through the heavily crowded market, but these celebrity initiatives are sure here to make some change. Then be it Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty, Kim Kardashian’s sprinkled approach to body-positive designs, and now Lizzo’s Yitty, shape wear is no more a shame wear and we’re loving this new wave.
