In the new episode of The Male Feminist, Lara Dutta recalled a promotional event for Andaaz in Delhi. She was accompanied by Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra. The actress revealed that while they were navigating through the heavy crowd, a man pinched her in the waist. Lara Dutta further added that her army background came in handy and she pulled the person from the crowd to him. This led to Akshay Kumar’s interference, revealed Lara Dutta.
Saying NO In Professional Space Too!
While talking on the topic of consent, Lara Dutta said that consent is not just limited to sexual or physical needs. She said, “No is a complete sentence in itself” and if somebody does not understand that then it’s their problem. Lara Dutta also added that people don’t know how to say No in the film industry. However, Lara Dutta revealed that she has said “No” many times and they always raised brows.

Lara Dutta addressed the problem of pay disparity in the film industry and revealed that she doesn’t compare her fee with any other male actor, but makes sure to get the amount that she herself deserves.

The actress highlighted that narration during her time was only limited to telling the actress that she has 4 songs, and 4 scenes and the kind of clothes they will wear. The actress further added that based on this narration they had to decide whether to do the film or not. Lara Dutta highlighted that the portrayal of women back in the day was very limited.

Lara Dutta firmly said that her 12-year-old daughter will be exposed to social media only when she is mature enough to understand it. Talking about parenting and tough love, the actress said that some friends have phones, and even if her daughter feels bad about that, she will have to survive.

Lara Dutta also revealed that she grew up in an environment where gender roles were not defined. She said that her father encouraged talk about world affairs, politics and business at the dinner table. He used to bring sanitary napkins for their daughters, added Lara Dutta.
