Jenny Han Reveals It Was Important To Find The Right Belly For ‘The Summer I Turned I Pretty’, Says “Lola Tung Has This Freshness To Her”

Talking about books, American-Asian author Jenny Han is one of my favourite novelists because she has aced the ‘Young Adult’ genre which is also my favourite genre in books. She decided to treat her fans with a live adaptation of her first published trilogy, The Summer I Turned Pretty and she recently opened up about the cast of the series which stars Lola Tung, Christopher, Gavin Casalegno, and Sean Kaufman in the lead roles.

So, I recently got the chance to watch the series The Summer I Turned Pretty and let me tell you, she made my summer perfect again with yet another coming-of-again story. The series features Lola Tung as Belly/Isabel Conklin, Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher, Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah Fisher, and Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin among others. Recently, Jenny Han talked about the faces headlining the series and said that she really wanted to find actors that felt real, natural, and fresh. “There’s a feeling of discovery about that. The ‘linchpin’ was going to be Belly because everything hangs around her. So, it was the most important for us to find the right Belly. Lola Tung had this freshness to her,” she said in an interview with Variety.
