Poor Things Review:  Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo Are Exceptional Is This Aesthetically Pleasing Absurd World!

Emma Stone's Poor Things review

Emma Stone's Oscar Winning performance in Poor Things directed by Yorgos Lanthimos was a deserving win. I watched the film at Book My Show's Red Lorry Festival and now I have some thoughts to share.

Plot

The movie revolves around Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) and her journey from struggling with autism to enlightening herself with the realities of life, and in between exploring her sexual needs as a woman. Bella's journey of self-discovery makes for an engaging storyline.

Characters

Mark Ruffalo as Duncan becomes Bella's escape on her journey of self-discovery. The actor has done a phenomenal job in portraying the selfish, conceited nature of a man who belongs to the wealthy class.

Exceptional Performances

Willem Dafoe as a surgeon and guardian of Bella is impressive.

Loved The Fashion In This Film!

For all the fashion enthusiasts, Poor Things is a delight to watch because the costume designers have broken rules in styling Bella's look.

A Treat To Watch On The Big-Screen!

Poor Things is visually very appealing and the artistic nature of storytelling is surreal.

Subtle Commentaries!

Poor Things has subtle commentaries on tabboo topics like Prostitution and women's sexual needs and desires which is beautifully explored through Emma Stone's character and the witty dialogues.

The eerie background score created an apt ambience to suit the era and tone of the film.

Background Music

Flaw!

The major drawback of this film is that it feels too lengthy and stretched in some moments.
