5 Breakfast Smoothie Recipes That Will Keep You Energised All Day!

What is the first drink we usually opt for in the morning? Coffee or tea, right? Well, while a little bit of caffeine can be great for your body, we usually end up consuming way more than 1 to 2 cups. Plus, who’s counting all the sugar that goes in there?

Who’s guilty of this? I know I am! But trust me, you don’t need your energy to come from caffeine, or worse, energy drinks!

Nutrient-filled, homemade smoothies are the answer. They’re a healthy alternative to too much caffeine and these recipes will keep you energized for longer. Here goes…

banana smoothie

1. Good ‘Ol Banana Smoothie

With a twist, of course! Get your mixer, and chop two bananas into it. Add 2 tbsp of peanut butter, 1/8 tsp vanilla extract, 2 cups of milk, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder. Mix all of this up and you’ll have a super energising banana smoothie to get you through the day.

2. Vegan Almond Smoothie

For all the vegan lovers out there, this one’s for you! Put in one fruit of your choice, like an apple or a banana, add 2 pitted mejdool dates, 2 tbsp almond butter, and 2 cups almond milk. I know it sounds like a lot of nuts and dry fruit, but that’s what makes it rich in nutrients, and super yummy!

orange mango smoothie

3. Orange & Mango Smoothie

Keep your blood sugar balanced all day by starting out with an orange smoothie. Peel 2 oranges and put it in the blender with a cup of mango chunks. This is way better than juice, because it keeps all the fibre intact. Juice requires way more orange and retains, mostly the sugar part of the fruit. No, adding the fibre back into the juice doesn’t help. And why have the juice of 4 whole oranges, when you can be satiated with two? Once you’ve added the fruit, add a dash of chilli powder for great digestion! Balance this with a tbsp of organic honey for sweetness.

4. The Superfood Smoothie

Get all your nutrients and the best superfoods packed into one energising smoothie. Really, it’s breakfast in a cup. All you need are these ingredients in the mixer: 1 cup coconut water, 1/2 avocado, 1/3 cup greek yoghurt, 1/2 cup of any tropical fruit, 1 tbsp cranberries, 1 tsp coconut oil, and a tsp of organic maple syrup. I mean, this hands-down takes the cake, right?

berry chocolate smoothie

5. The Berry & Chocolate Smoothie

This is by far my favourite, taste-wise! If you’ve got a sweet tooth and you can’t have dessert, fill yourself with this smoothie. Add 2 tbsp of dark, organic chocolate, 1 cup of organic (hormone-free) milk – I source mine directly from farms, 2 tbsp blueberries, 1 tbsp raspberries, and 2 tbsp strawberries. Shake it up, blend it and you’ll have healthy dessert just waiting for you.
