South Indian States Better For Women Than North India: Avtar Report

You will see a vast difference between the Indian cities regarding women’s safety and inclusivity. In some cities, crimes against women are on a rise, and in some, it is comparatively safer. In a report released by Avtar Group, it has been noted that cities from South India are better for women when compared to North Indian cities. This comparison was made in terms of women’s safety, social and organisational inclusivity and also ease of living.

The report was released by the Avtar Group, in which every city was given a City Inclusion Score (CIS). This score is a combination of the Social Inclusion Score(SIS) and the Industrial Inclusion Score(IIS). The SIS basically ranks a city based on how friendly, and safe it is for women whereas the IIS is about the organisational and industrial inclusivity for women. The 111 cities of the country were divided into two categories. The first category was cities with a population of more than a million and Category 2 was cities with a population of less than a million. Based on the CIS scores, Chennai has topped the list in Category 1 with a CIS of 78.41 and was followed by Pune (69.44).
