Female Students Cry After Taliban Bans University Education. It’s Heartbreaking
Shocked but not surprised. You know, whenever I hear the word restrictions, the Taliban comes to my mind first because seems like they are on a mission to ban anything and everything that is related to women and their basic human rights. After torturing women who were fighting for their rights, the Taliban banned university education for them. And now, several videos of female students weeping outside educational institutions have surfaced on the internet. It is heartbreaking!
On December 20, the higher education minister of Afghanistan, Neda Mohammad Nadeem, announced that girls and women will no longer be allowed to attend higher education institutions in the country. The announcement was shocking for the whole world. Just a day after the shocking announcement, several videos from Aghanistan’s university surfaced online. In all the videos, female students can be seen shedding tears after they were informed that they are allowed in the universities until further notice. The visuals are deeply disturbing, to be honest.
Take a look at the video here:
Extremely sad and distressing to see these girls cry as they are told that they will no longer be able to continue their studies at the university. Stand with these women and girls of Afghanistan against the Taliban. #LetHerLearn pic.twitter.com/GwHfudZA66

Before this, the Taliban had forced universities to include different entrances and classrooms for male and female students. Furthermore, only women and old staff were allowed to teach women.

Earlier, women in Afghanistan were banned from public parks and gyms for no valid reason.
Women from Kabul tell me they were not only banned from university, but also sewing course!! So they aren’t allowed to learn any skills under Taliban.

A year ago, the Taliban banned young girls from entering secondary schools. So, it is clear that they don’t want women and girls to receive education that will make them independent.
