Woman’s Hand Turns Black After Gurugram Hospital Gives Her The Wrong Antibiotics. The Hand Will Have To Be Amputated

There are a few people in our lives to whom we turn to in our hour of need, other than our family or friends. These are people we place our trust in to help us during a situation of crisis, people like police officers, doctors and teachers. But what happens when these people turn into the ones breaking our trust and creating problems for us? As is what happened with a woman from Gurugram, Haryana who reached out to a hospital to get treated, but instead had her hand turn black due to an infection she caught from the hospital medication.

This is a shocking incident that has come to light recently. A private hospital located in Dundahera village of Gurugram came under the scanner after it treated a woman such that one of her hands caught a horrible infection, because of which her hand turned black.

Reports share that the 34-year-old woman was admitted in the hospital after she had undergone a procedure for abortion. It was when she was injected an antibiotic after the process on April 23 that she caught the infection. Obviously, it was her hand turning black that was a cause of concern.

The woman has been identified as Vinita hailing from the Gurugram’s Chakkarpur village who had checked in the Park Hospital located in Dundahera village with her husband Sarfaraz for an abortion procedure. Sarfaraz revealed, “After the abortion, the doctors at the hospital administered my wife an antibiotic injection which caused a reaction in her body. The doctors informed us that the right hand will have to be amputated as the reaction is spreading.”

Blaming the hospital for negligence, the husband went on to say, “Despite negligence on the part of the hospital they are not willing to accept our request and are asking for a huge amount for the operation.”

Recalling the timeline, he also said, “My wife had been operated on April 23 and was discharged on the same day. Since then she has been suffering severe pain and the very next day on April 24 we again visited the hospital and the doctors changed her medicine. On April 25, an ultrasound of the hand was conducted and later we were referred to the RML hospital in Delhi.” The doctors at the RML hospital explained how her hand could have been saved had it been operated within 6 to 8 hours of catching the infection, however now the only way to proceed was to amputate it.

Sarfaraz shared his despair, especially since his wife Vinita was the sole breadwinner of the family, and having to lose her hand over the negligence of a hospital, was simply unethical, unfair and absolutely abhorring.
