UP Woman Switches Genders To Marry Girlfriend After Family Opposition
I feel like we cis-het folk take a lot for granted. While it is common in our culture for there to be opposition to who we wish to marry or be with the kind of challenges that the people from the LGBTQ+ community are on a different level than ours. Not only do they rarely get any family support, but they have no support from our law and constitution either. Hence, an Uttar Pradesh woman is now undergoing gender reassignment surgery to become a man so that she can marry her girlfriend.
After her family objected to their relationship, a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj changed her gender to be with her partner. Two lesbians swore to be companions throughout their life, but when their families refused to acknowledge and support their love. One of them has opted to undergo gender reassignment surgery. The woman, who was madly in love with her partner, wanted to change her gender to prevent any complications and to escape the intervention from society. The woman attempted every possible method to persuade the families, but she was unsuccessful, so she decided to change her gender.

When her upper body parts were altered and her chest was restructured, a team of surgeons from Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj performed the sex reassignment surgery. The physicians predicted that the surgery would take another 1.5 years, after which she would be transformed into a man. According to Dr Mohit Jain, the woman will receive testosterone replacement therapy. The testosterone therapy will cause chest hair to develop.

He went on to say that following the gender change surgery, the woman will be unable to conceive and become pregnant. According to reports, Dr Jain claimed that this is the first time such an operation has been carried out, and it is estimated to take roughly 18 months to complete. He added that the woman’s health has been thoroughly examined, and she is in good health.
