In UP, Police Officers Lathi-Charge And Verbally Abuse Protesting Women Over Vandalism Of BR Ambedkar Statue

I know that some people lose their calm quite quickly but violence can never be an option in any way. But people often use their power in the wrong way and then, they have to face criticism. A video of Uttar Pradesh police officers hitting women with lathis and verbally abusing them over vandalism of Dr B.R. Ambedkar is going viral on the internet and it has sparked police excesses allegations.

On Sunday, a group of women were protesting in Jalalpur when the police arrived to disperse them. According to the reports, the women were protesting over the vandalism of a statue of Dr B. R. Ambedkar in their area. In the viral video, some policemen were seen hitting and verbally abusing protesting women. The police claimed that the protesters first started throwing stones at them and their vehicles. The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district.
