It is true that women are taking over the world and we are so proud of them.  And it is a good thing because I think that women are better leaders and this world needs someone who has good leadership skills. Having said that, Liz Truss became the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom by beating rival and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak by over 20, 000 votes on Monday. For the unversed, she is the third woman ever to become the Prime Minister of the UK. On September 5, Lizz Truss was named as the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. FYI, she defeated former chancellor of the exchequer, Indian-origin Rishi Sunak. In her winning speech, she promised to deliver a great victory for the Conservative Party in the year 2024. Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi congratulated Liz Truss after she won the ruling Conservative Party’s leadership contest to become Britain’s third woman PM. The tweet read, “Congratulations @trussliz for being chosen to be the next PM of the UK. Confident that under your leadership, the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be further strengthened. Wish you the very best for your new role and responsibilities.”

Finance Minister of India – Nirmala Sithraman mentioned that she is looking forward to strengthening the ties between India and the United Kingdom in the congratulatory tweet. “Greetings and good wishes to @trussliz on being elected as the Leader of the @Conservatives and as the next Prime Minister. Looking forward to strengthening the ties between India, being led by @PMOIndia @narendramodi and the United Kingdom under your leadership. Congratulations,” she wrote. 

 

The former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom – Boris Johnson also congratulated Liz Truss on Twitter after she won the elections. 

 

President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis; First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon; and Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė also congratulated the new PM.
