Liz Truss Becomes The Third Woman Prime Minister Of UK, Beats Rishi Sunak With Over 20,000 Votes

Women everywhere in the world are taking over and how. They are leading each and every field like a true boss lady and I am so here for it. Just recently Liz Truss who was running for the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom along with Rishi Sunak, beat the latter and came out victorious. Yep, the result of the United Kingdom’s elections for the new Prime Minister is out and it is Liz Truss who has won the position square and fair.

On September 5, at 5pm, the result of the United Kingdom’s elections for the Prime Minister was revealed and it is the foreign minister Liz Truss who has beaten her rival Rishi Sunak, former finance minister. The result has come in after both the candidates spent their entire summer rallying support from among the Conservative Party members.

Liz Truss defeated former finance minister Rishi Sunak by over 20,000 votes. She is now the third woman ever to become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

As per reports, after being announced as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss said, “I’ll deliver a bold plan to cut taxes and grow our economy, on the energy crisis and long-term issues on energy supply and National Health Service….and we’ll deliver a great victory for the Conservative Party in 2024.”

For those unversed, Liz Truss had the upperhand since the beginning. The 47-year-old was consistently ahead of Rishi Sunak during the polling that came in from around 200,000 eligible Tory members.

The United Kingdom Prime Minister elections were held after Boris Johnson was pressured and forced to announce his retirement in July. This was because he had been a name in multiple scandals that took place. On Tuesday, he will be travelling to Scotland to meet Queen Elizabeth and officially tender his resignation. As for his successor, he also will be following Boris Johnson and will be asked to form a government.
