Philadelphia Woman Gives Birth To A Baby On The Front Seat Of Tesla On Autopilot. Tesla Baby?

One of the most natural and beautiful things in the world is the birth of a child. However, birth can happen at any time and anywhere. Just imagine, you’re driving and all of a sudden your water breaks and you’re in labour. What do you do then? Well, most of us would pull over and call for help. But what if you’re stuck in traffic and know for a fact that you won’t make it to the hospital? Then you can do what this woman and her husband did. A woman gave birth to a baby on the front seat of Tesla while the car was driving on autopilot. Yep, you read that right!

A woman from Philadelphia, Yiran Sherry, was taking her 3-year-old son Rafa to preschool with her husband when her water broke. The family was stuck in traffic which was barely moving and they realised that they weren’t going to make it to the hospital on time. And so the husband, Keating Sherry, put the Tesla car on autopilot and helped his wife deliver the world’s first-ever Tesla baby.

The 34-year-old husband immediately put the Tesla on autopilot after setting the navigation to the nearest hospital which was 20 mins away in the western suburb of Paoli, after he realised that Yiran Sherry’s water broke and they didn’t have enough time to go to the hospital.

Talking about the birth of her baby in the car, the woman from Philadelphia said that the decision to hold the baby in or push it out was an agonising decision. But when she saw that the estimated arrival time to the hospital was not changing because of the traffic, she decided to give birth to a baby girl in the Tesla itself.

Recalling the birth of his daughter, the husband shared that as soon as his wife’s water broke, he placed one hand on the steering wheel as he attended to her. “She was squeezing my hand to the point where I thought she was going to shatter it… I was [saying] ‘Yiran, OK, focus on your breathing.’ That was advice to myself, as well. My adrenaline was pumping,” he said.

Yiran Sherry gave birth to her baby girl as they arrived at the hospital where the nurses cut the baby’s umbilical cord over the car’s front seat. The parents breathed a sigh of relief when the paediatrician said that the baby was healthy. Yiran also said that while they were in the hospital, a lot of nurses poured in to see the “Tesla baby”.

In fact, as per reports, the couple even thought of naming their girl Tess after the car manufacturer but later decided to name her Maeve Lily. The husband, Keating Sherry even thanked the engineers who came up with the brilliant idea of autopilot for Tesla.

Having heard about the birth of a baby in the front seat of a Tesla has me shocked and surprised. I mean, it just goes to show how technology has been a boon for people when used in the right way.
