An Ice Cream Ad Has Led To Iran Banning Women From Appearing In Ads. World Won’t Let Women Be!

By  |

You know, this world is full of serious issues that include global warming, poverty, overpopulation, and the list goes on and these issues need to be addressed immediately. However, the people who are running the world are focused on making women’s life difficult and they are doing a great job. Well, speaking of issues, Iran recently banned women from appearing in advertisements over a ‘controversial’ commercial that featured a woman biting an ice cream while wearing a loose hijab. Okay then…

I had never imagined that one ice cream can lead to Iran banning all women from appearing in advertisements but let me tell you, everything is possible in this patriarchal society. Recently, Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance banned women from appearing in commercials in order to tighten the country’s hijab and chastity laws. According to the reports, the ministry issued a letter to advertising agencies and informed them that women are now prohibited from featuring in all types of advertisements and commercials. The instruction came after the release of an advertisement that featured a woman in a loose hijab biting into ice cream. The controversial ad has reportedly caused outrage among the country’s Islamic leaders.

The leaders of Iran are enraged by the ad and have asked the officials to sue the ice cream manufacturer as the advertisement went against public decency and is an insult to women’s values.

For the unversed, since the Islamic revolution of 1979, the hijab has been compulsory in Iran. However, Iranian women have raised their voices against the strict law. They are protesting against the strict law by removing their headscarves in public and on social media platforms risking arrest and punishment.
