Instagram Influencer Faces Backlash For Doing A Photoshoot At Her Father’s Funeral

Do you remember that a few weeks ago, a vlogger was slammed by the netizens and the public for shooting a vlog at an actor’s funeral? You must have thought that nothing more insensitive can top that. Guess what? You’re wrong. There is an Instagram influencer who topped that. Wondering how? Well, let me tell you. This Instagram influencer did a photoshoot at her father’s funeral. Yep, you read that right; even I can’t wrap my head around it. Needless to say, the netizens who came across the influencer gave her quite the backlash for doing that. Instagram influencer Jayne Rivera was recently slammed and criticized for doing a photoshoot at her father’s funeral. The influencer t=posed right next to the open casket wherein her father’s body was there.

Rivera shared her photos and captioned it “Butterfly fly away. Rip Papi you were my best friend. A life well lived.” A report suggests that one of the hashtags was #dadless.

There were in total eight photos that Jayne had uploaded. In one of them she was seen smiling, in the other she was seen with hands clasped together, and there was also one with her glancing over her shoulder while looking away from the camera. Netizens who came across the post by the influencer slammed for being insensitive and disrespectful. The backlash was so brutal that Jayne Rivera ended up deactivating her account on Instagram.

I understand that you want to stand out of the crowd and come up with creative content to boost your followers on social media. I even understand that everyone mourns in their own way. But there is a line for everything. And seeing this influencer posting pictures of her photoshoot at her father’s funeral, is crossing that line (at least, for me). I agree when netizens say that there is some respect that needs to be given to the dead and this was just plain simple disrespectful and insensitive. At the same time, I also do feel for Jayne, because people on social media can be pretty hurtful with their comments, and she is already going through so much.
