Indrani Mukerjea Has Been Granted Bail In 6.5 Years In Custody In The Sheena Bora Murder Case

In 2015, Indrani Mukerjea was arrested under the accusation that she was responsible for the murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora. The Sheena Bora disappearance and murder case was nothing short of a spectacle back then with the media heavily covering it. However, after 6.5 years, Indrani Mukerjea has been given bail as she has already been in custody for 6.5 years and the trial does not seem to be ending any time soon.

The Supreme Court granted bail to the prime suspect in the Sheena Bora murder case, her mother  Indrani Mukerjea after  6.5 years in custody as the trial is still ongoing and doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon. The court also considered the fact that the other prime suspect in the case, Peter Mukerjea has been on bail since February 2020. The court has given her bail under the same conditions as Peter was given.

Indrani Mukerjea moved her bail plea to the SC in February. This was after the CBI had already denied her bail multiple times. The CBI also had opposed her bail plea in the SC as she was accused of something as heinous as the murder of her own daughter. The CBI also pointed out that Indrani is an influential person and can threaten the prosecution’s witnesses as well, according to sources.
