Twitter Cannot Fathom The Inhumanity Of Ghaziabad Rape Case, Equates It To Nirbhaya
As a woman, one of the most terrifying things I have heard today was the case of a Delhi woman being gang raped by 5 men in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. It reminded me of the heinous Nirbhaya case from a decade ago. And If you have been on the world wide web for even a little while today, you have read all the terrifying details of this case. And I am not the only one who is enraged by this as Twitter cannot get over the inhumanity that this woman had to go through
For the unversed, five men are accused of abducting a woman from Delhi, gang raping her, and torturing her for two days in the Uttar Pradesh district of Ghaziabad. Along with stuffing her in a jute bag and sticking an iron rod in her privates, the criminals dumped her in a road before fleeing. On October 18, a woman from Delhi’s Nandnagari neighbourhood was discovered laying next to Ashram Road in Ghaziabad and was sent to the hospital right afterwards. Nandgram (UP) Police learned that a woman was found laying close to Ashram Road. She was taken to a hospital by police. She is a Delhi resident who traveled to her brother’s home in Nandgram, according to Nipun Agarwal, SP City (Ghaziabad). Tweeple were enraged over this news and equated it to the Nirbhaya case:

A rape as heinous as the Nirbhaya case happens in Ghaziabad, UP & no one utters a word? Rapes , it seems, are becoming the hallmark crime of UP under Adityanath's govt.https://t.co/6SW2UFh0wN

Now are you going to blame the time or the dress code or that she was alone. This case is akin to the Nirbhaya rape case, an extremely gruesome case.#Ghaziabad https://t.co/NQ8r6CohW4

Another Nirbhaya incident in Ghaziabad!🥹
Men who complain being wronged by women leading to no justice, tell me how many of them have been tortured by women the way they tortured Nirbhaya and now the woman in Ghaziabad in the same brutal way!
Women wrong, but what percentage?

"Dinu, Shahrukh, Javed, Dhola and Aurangzeb" must be hanged to death asap unlike the convicts of Nirbhaya case which happened exactly a decade ago.
Praying for the speedy recovery of the victim, who's in critical condition.#Delhi #Ghaziabad #Nirbhaya #Hangrapists— Vedant Baranwal (@awokebhakt) October 19, 2022
I really don't understand how can some people be so sick-minded?
Yet another gang rape case in Ghaziabad…
Is there any place safe for women anymore?
The case should be fast-tracked.
We do not want another Nirbhaya— Bidisha Datta (@BidishaDatta12) October 19, 2022
There has been repeat of Nirbhaya in Ghaziabad & no outrage?? This is shocking beyond understanding. @SwatiJaiHind is the only person really fighting the battle for women unlike @NCWIndia & the saviours of women in that national body pic.twitter.com/Aw61Z8Mv0l

I was around 14 when I first heard about the Nirbhaya case. I hadn’t heard the term “rape” before and when I understood what it meant, I was horrified. As a young girl myself, I was never able to comprehend my sense of self being violated to this degree and the fact that something this scary could happen to me was shocking, to say the least. And it disheartens me to see that not only haven’t we made much progress but we seem to regressing back to a decade ago.
