CPI Leader ES Bijimol Calls Out Sexism In Politics, Says She Was A Victim Of “Anti-Feminist Ideology”

Women can never escape sexism, it is a very hard-to-digest fact that I stated. We may have progressed from what we were in terms of treating all gender equally, but changing the deep-rooted conservative ideas of every person is still a difficult milestone to achieve. No matter how brilliant the women may have proved themselves in various fields of interest and careers, they most of the time are demeaned and discriminated against for their gender. Highlighting this issue in the field of politics, CPI leader and Ex MLA ES Bijimol has spoken up about the gender biases that she has personally experienced during her career and the overall idea the politicians have on the topic of feminism.

On September 1, Thursday, ES Bijimol took to her social media handle to openly talk about sexism that is still highly prevalent in the political arena. Bijimol who is an Ex-member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly was also a part of the State Council Member of the Communist Party Of India (CPI). In the post, Bijinol in very straightforward terms revealed the actual truth of gender discrimination and biases that happen in political parties. She wrote that most of the parties who showcase feminist ideas and support in front of the public are in reality “downright anti-feminist”. ES Bijimol also shared one of her own experiences and wrote that she was one of the nominations for the post of District Secretary. She further said that many of her male counterparts had said that she did not need gender consideration, however later on Bijimol did become a victim of sexism and it still haunts her.

ES Bijimol clearly states that she has been subjected to “moral attacks” just because she touched a male-dominated sphere. Talking further on this she said that many men who present themselves as part of progressive politics with radical ideas, in reality, are the same as their other conservative counterparts, and it’s her personal experience. She also put out a strong message at the end and wrote that if women want to be feminists, they need to be outspoken about that.
