Paris Fashion Week Showcases Solidarity With Ukraine, Drops Russian Designer Valentin Yudashkin From Lineup Amid Ongoing War
The Russia-Ukraine war has not only affected the two nations but also the world around them. And impact of the war has managed to seep into the most likely and unlikely places. In fact, it was on display at the Paris Fashion Week 2022 as well. While designers have been showcasing their solidarity with Ukraine through the latest collections, the new update from the show exhibits fashion week’s voice against war. According to a recent set of reports, Russian designer Valentin Yudashkin, has been removed from the show calendar, post a six-year-long collaboration with the celebrated fashion week.

Known for designing the Russian military’s uniform in the year 2008, he earlier collaborated with Russian president Vladimir Putin to curate 85 uniforms. The reason behind his removal? So, according to Ralph Toledano, president of the group that organises, “Our team wanted to verify the position of Valentin Yudashkin…..If he had doubt about the war in Ukraine, it would have been hard to remove him from the program. That was not the case.” “It became clear that he is an affiliate of the regime.” Being tight-lipped about the entire situation, Valentin did not speak about the war, as a result of which he has been banned by the organisers. We feel that’s a great step and imperative to be sensitive towards the sufferings of Ukraine.
