Korean Designer’s PFW Special Collection Is Made Of Hair And It’s Both Beautiful And Bizarre
Fashion has the power to be both beautiful and bizarre. I mean, there’s not one day that passes by without me noticing atleast one design that blows me away and this Korean brand has a similar effect. Showcasing its collection at the year’s Paris Fashion Week, South Korean label–Maison Kimhekim’s Fall winter 2022 collection titled OBSESSION N°4 ‘Hair Chronicles,’ fits the name well. Experimenting with hair and the many styles, hair strands in multiple shapes graced the designer collections’ corsets, ties, jackets, crop tops, boots and more. Yes, that’s right and very much true!

Designed out of hair buns, braids, long luscious locks, the label’s Fall-winter 2022 collection includes accessories and clothing items made out of blonde, brunette and black hair styled into a variety of shapes. As bizarre as the idea sounds, the garments look surprisingly beautiful but we ain’t sure if you would wanna wear hair.

Known for its out of the box ideas and runway specials, the designer brought the surprise element this year with hair which is equally as surprising as its last showcase in 2019, wherein the models walked in T-shirts that said ‘Sick,’ with IV bags making it to the runway alongside them. The design stunt gained traction from one and all with mostly negative comments taking up the space.

Triggering nostalgia of playing with Barbie Dolls, Maison Kimhekim’s collection is made of sourced wigs. This also reminds me of the loose ended silhouettes curated out of thread tassels on a multitude of design styles like skirts, suits, dresses, jackets and more. Unusual yet creative, the design collection look book played around with the old school formal staples that included a mandatory mention of a white shirt, collaborating with the braided silhouettes. Revealing some behind the scene footage, the label also dropped a video of the designs in a process that showcased the making of one of the pieces. Indeed surprising, the internet family too loved the designs, with the label’s followers praising the design technology and the creative incorporation of hair.
