Sushmita Sen Does Not Like To Be Gifted Diamonds, She Buys Them Herself. What An Absolute Queen!
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, they say. And while this is the case, most women couldn’t care less about how they get their hands on the diamonds (no, I’m not talking about stealing, sheesh guys!), there are others who believe that a woman should buy her own diamonds. Now, if you ask me, I honestly wouldn’t mind my friends, family, or romantic partner giving me a diamond. I mean, why would you say no? But then there are women like Sushmita Sen who do not like anyone— including boyfriend Rohman Shawl—gifting her diamonds. She’d rather buy them herself, thank you very much.
Sushmita Sen had years ago famously said that a woman should buy her own diamonds. And now, in a recent interview, she further added that she doesn’t even let her boyfriend Rohman Shawl buy her diamonds.
When the actress was asked if there were any diamonds or jewels gifted by Rohman that she holds close to her heart, Sen replied saying, “I do not allow friends to gift me diamonds. That does not happen. I buy them, I like gifting them.”

According to Hindustan Times, she even reminisced about the time when she bought her first diamond and revealed that it was a ten-cent diamond that had a pure gold band with an open-ended thing that she could use to adjust the size. Sushmita Sen further added that she then slowly moved on to 22-carat diamonds.
The Bollywood actress further elaborated on her famous statement that women should buy diamonds for themselves and said, “This I hold to this day. Size matters so that you can let the man know and see that either you match the size of my diamond or the size of my heart. Heart is going to be tough so work on the diamond please and make it bigger than this. It’s important to set benchmarks for yourself.”
In fact, back in 2016 Sushmita Sen had taken to her Instagram and posted a picture of her with a diamond ring. The post sparked engagement rumours that the Aarya actress shut down by saying, “This ring is to remind me and all of you that I don’t need a man in my life to have diamonds. I can own them myself.”

Honestly, the reason behind not allowing anyone to gift her diamonds makes a lot of sense and is also extremely inspiring. What an absolute queen Sushmita Sen is! I agree with her that a woman should not be waiting around for a man or someone else to buy her diamonds, she can most definitely buy them for themselves. But I’m also not going to deny that it is a nice feeling when someone gifts you diamonds. So, why not have the best of both worlds?
