‘PS-1’ Trailer: Mani Ratnam’s Epic Promises Grand Scale, Powerful Performances From Aishwarya And Karthi
Very rarely does it happen that I wake up super excited for the day and yesterday was one of those days. Yes, I was super excited and it is all because of a trailer and audio launch. Yesterday, September 6, makers of Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 aka PS-1 are launching the trailer and audio of the historical drama that audiences have been waiting for. The event took place in Chennai and was attended by many from the film fraternity – like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, AR Rahman, and many more. Having watched the PS-1 trailer I can most definitely say that it is the grandeur of the sets and the depth of the acting by Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha is what stole the show for me.
Mani Ratnam just dropped the trailer of Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 aka PS-1 starring Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R Parthiban in pivotal roles. By the visuals, sound, and performances of actors it sure is going to be one epic hisorical drama.

The PS-1 trailer begins with a forecast that demanded the sacrifice of one royal member of the Chola family. Needless to say, this disturbed everyone in the Chola kingdom and many treacherous plans were made. The trailer then goes on to introduce the characters of Vikram who plays Aditya Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Karthi who plays Vanthiyathevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, and Trisha who plays Kundavai.
Following Kalki Krishnamurthy’s Ponniyin Selvan, the trailer goes on to show Vikram, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi riding horses, brandishing swords, going on secret missions, and meeting princess Kundavai (Trisha). The trailer then shows Queen Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) warning against the union of Aditya and Arunmozhi. However, it seems her warning is unheard since war and bloodshed scenes follow. But what’s the show stealer is the fact that amidst all of this, Queen Nandini’s eyes are fixed on the royal throne.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 tells the tale of Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) and how he became the king of the Chola kingdom. The story will be narrated from the point of view of a messenger, Vanthiyathevan (Karthi) of Aditya Karikalan (Vikram).
Produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, Mani Ratnam’s PS-1 has music composed by the world famous maestro himself – AR Rahman.
PS-1 is set to have a worldwide release on September 30, 2022 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
