Did Kangana Ranaut Just Praise Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ Starring Alia Bhatt? Here’s What We Know
Actress Kangana Ranaut has been making headlines over the last few days (actually, she’s always in the news) over various controversies around her upcoming show Lock Upp as well as for other controversies. She is after all the ‘Controversy Queen’. Having said that, this time she’s in the news for a good reason. Shocking, hai na? I feel you! The actress has actually praised a Bollywood film without actually naming it and it seems like she was talking about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi in a cryptic post shared on Instagram stories. Kangana Ranaut called the film a ‘recent female-centric film which has a big hero and a superstar director’. While she still called them ‘movie mafia’ she did add that they did ‘something good’ which is crucial to reviving theatres across the country amid the pandemic. Kangana Ranaut further added that if ‘they’ (I’m assuming she’s talking about the movie mafia here) do good she will be ‘appreciative’. Well, okay then.
For the unversed, Kangana Ranaut had earlier taken a dig at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt. She had slammed Alia while indirectly calling her a ‘daddy’s angel’ and ‘bimbo’. She had also said that the film had the ‘wrong casting’ but did not name the film. “This Friday 200cr will be burnt to ashes at the box office … for a papa (movie mafia daddy) ki pari (who likes to keep a British passport) because papa wants to prove that romcom bimbo can act… biggest drawback of the film is wrong casting…yeh nahi sudhrenge (these people won’t change) no wonder screens are going to South and Hollywood films … Bollywood is destined for doom jab tak movie mafia has power…,” Kangana said in her earlier cryptic post.

In another one of her stories, Kangana Ranaut spoke about a ‘Bollywood mafia daddy papa Jo’ (I’m guessing it’s Karan Johar) and said that he has ‘single-handedly ruined the work culture’ in the industry. She accused him of emotionally manipulating big directors and forcing ‘his products of mediocrity on their cinematic brilliance’. She further added that ‘another example’ will be added to the list after the upcoming release while urging people to not entertain him. She also said that the film which was set to release on Friday (25 Feb) is a film of a big hero and ‘greatest directors’ and went on to call them ‘new victims of his manipulations’.
