The world woke up to a very surprising piece of news on April 26 that Elon Musk has bid to buy Twitter for $44 billion. This has not gone down well with a lot of Twitter users and even celebrities. Soon after the bid, #quittwitter began trending on the platform and people have tweeted that they are going to leave it as well. People are worried about free speech being jeopardised now that Elon Musk has become its head. The first celebrity to announce that she is quitting Twitter was the English actress Jameela Jamil. She sent out a couple of tweets announcing her leave from the said social media platform.

The Good Place actor took to Twitter to send out her last couple of tweets before she quit it. She wrote, “One good thing about Elon buying twitter is that I will *FINALLY* leave and stop being a complete menace to society on here. So it’s win win for you all really. (laughing emoji)”

Jamil further tweeted that this would be her last tweet and she would take any chance she gets to show off her dog Barold. She wrote, “I fear this free speech bid is going to help this hell platform reach its final form of totally lawless hate, bigotry, and misogyny. Best of luck. (red heart emoji)

After sealing the deal of buying Twitter, the SpaceX CEO tweeted that he hopes even his worst critics stay on twitter because this is what free speech means.
