‘Achha Sila Diya’ Song: Nora Fatehi, Rajkummar Rao’s Dramatic Remake Grows On You, Slowly

This track is not bad at all!
‘Achha Sila Diya’ Song: Nora Fatehi, Rajkummar Rao’s Dramatic Remake Grows On You, Slowly

Remember that Sonu Nigam track ‘Achchha Sila Diya Toone Mere Pyar Ka’ which was released in 1995? Yeah, that gem has been remade by T-Series. The remake business is seriously getting out of hand now, honestly! The remade version is sung by B Praak and composed by Jaani. What had me doing a double-take was when I saw that Nora Fatehi and Rajkummar Rao are featured in this track! It’s like a genie has granted Nora’s wish and all remakes are only falling into her lap. But I will admit that ‘Achha Sila Diya’ is a song that will grow on you like all other B Praak-sung tracks do because of his amazing voice.

The track starts with showing Rajkummar Rao getting into a near-fatal accident but he is in a good enough condition to walk. When he returns home, he sees that Nora has planned a funeral for him. Quite literally. Then start the flashbacks of how Nora and Rajkummar were a happy couple until she falls in love with his assistant. A lot of drama unfolds in the ‘Achha Sila Diya ‘song right from revealing how Nora and the assistant got him to sign some documents by deceiving him to planning his murder.

There is a scene in this track where Rajkummar is chained and getting hit by a chabuk. But for what reason? We don’t know. During this sequence, Nora is sitting on a throne and dancing every time Raj gets beaten. What role is she playing? We don’t know. What did the assistant have to offer to Nora that she had to leave the very successful and rich Rajkummar? We. Don’t. Know!

This entire scene gave me Sargun Mehta and Harrdy Sandhu’s ‘Titliyaan’ song vibes! Plus, the plot and the music also slightly resembled Nora and Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Pachtaoge’ song. In fact, Nora and Vicky had damn good chemistry which was severely lacking in ‘Achha Sila Diya’. Remake toh bana daala but aur do songs se “inspiration” leke. But I will definitely agree that the song kinda grows on you. It is not entirely cringe, B Praak made sure of it. The lyrics gel well with the music and the entire setting of the song as well!

Nora ke latke and jhatke were impressive as always but it was Rajkummar Rao who I liked more. He did a great job with his expressions. When he was in love, when he was shocked or when he learnt he was betrayed, it was all evident on his face.

So, all-in-all, a not-bad song!
