‘Kyaa Baat Haii 2.0’ Review: Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal Are Sizzling But We Can’t Take Another Remake, Yaar!

Over the last few years, Bollywood has been kaafi zayada dull for most of us and the biggest reason is the lack of originality. I could go on a whole different rant about all the remakes that have been coming our way and TBH, it’s getting really tiring. If it’s not a film remake, it’s a song remake or remix and each one is more disappointing than the other. And it’s not like people haven’t voiced their disappointment. I mean, social media is always flooding with it but to no avail. The remake and remix trend continues to haunt us. And Bollywood has yet another substandard song for us to disappoint us. A new song from Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani starrer Govinda Naam Mera, “Kyaa Baat Haii 2.0” has been launched and guess what? It’s a remake of Hardy Sandhu’s song “Kya Baat Ay”. No surprises there.

Taking to Instagram, filmmaker Karan Johar shared a video of the latest song of Govinda Naam Mera, “Kyaa Baat Haii 2.0”. While his caption suggested we should set the mood and increase the volume because “it’s time to groove” the truth is that we just don’t want to groove because this song has us cringing hard! As much as we love groovy music, this is another remake that has not just failed to impress us but just failed us! Having said that, I must point out that Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal do look kaafi happening and their chemistry is sizzling. Check out the video of this new remake of an old song.

Sure, Vicky and Kiara are giving us goosebumps with their performances but hold on, where’s Bhumi Pednekar? And we’re not the only ones with this question. The Internet has a lot to say to the makers of the film and the song. While several users praised the actors and their dance performance, they couldn’t help but wonder why Bhumi Pednekar isn’t a part of the music video. On the other hand, most internet users just couldn’t handle yet another remake.

Netizens have slammed the makers for remaking yet another song and while they appreciate that the originality has been maintained by retaining the original singer Hardy Sandhu, it doesn’t change the fact that another Punjabi song has been revamped for Bollywood. Several users asked the makers to find some lyricists and scriptwriters instead of depending on remakes.

TBH, we just cannot take it anymore. We really wish Bollywood can come up with something new instead of forcing film remakes and song remakes down all of our throats.
