Twitter User Calls Attention To Obsessive Nature Of Cyber Stalking. Online Harassment Is Real And We Need To Talk About It!

TBH, social media is alright but the part that somebody might be stalking you there really freaks me out. I mean, we talk about stalking so casually and are really unaware of how dangerous it can actually get. Basically, staking is going through somebody’s social media account to know everything about them without the person even realising. Cyber stalking is a very concerning topic because the extreme level of it shows the obsession of the person, which certainly is not healthy. A woman on Twitter has raised this topic of discussion and has rightly pointed out that cyber stalking should be taken more seriously. Indeed!

The woman whose Twitter handle is the name “A” wrote that “cyber security” should be given more attention. She talked about the boundaries that one needs to understand, especially if is being made clear by blocking the person. The Twitter user highlighted the point of how stalkers on social media keep creating accounts to follow the person even after getting blocked several times and clearly termed this as an “obsession”. She also shared her personal experience on this about a time when somebody told her that blocking would not help because they have many accounts that are following her.

Now, just imagine, walking on a road, and being followed by someone. No matter how many times you change your direction that person catches up with you. Just the thought of this is scary, right? But why do get so casual about this when it has been done online? It is still not right and for that matter, very creepy. I guess the Twitter user has just struck the right and important conversation with this.

One woman under this tweet also mentioned how her boyfriend used some website to unblock himself from her account, so he could text her. This is so alarming. Why are there such websites that are helping people to do these unethical and unsafe tasks? And, I am pretty sure that there might be more such websites and apps used by stalkers. The more we are being active on social media, the need to make it a safer space is increasing all the more.  There are many unknown loopholes that are making social media a dangerous space.

I hope we understand the urgency of this matter and do not take stalking so casually. There should be more conversations around this.
