The ongoing protests in the country’s capital demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have intensified recently. Assembling near the PM’s residence are students, medical aspirants and supporters speaking against the irregularities in the education system, alongside multiple NEET paper leaks. Amid all the backlash that Dharmendra Pradhan has been subjected to, his daughter, Naimisha Pradhan, has also become the centre of immense hatred. So much so that, she chose to disable her Instagram account.
In the recent turn of events, Naimisha deactivated her Instagram account as a response to all the backlash. For the unversed, the daughter of the Education Minister completed her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in the United States. Her educational background soon became a subject of heavy discussion amongst protesting youth, who questioned choices of the elites. Dissecting their privileged behaviour, the protestors and angry students bombarded Naimisha’s Instagram posts with comments like, “You’re studying abroad because you know what millions of Indian students already know: our education system is failing them.” Many also wrote, “Dharmendra Pradhan Resign,” under posts of Tufts University, where she completed her further education.

Naimisha who started serving as the senior associate at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), right after pursuing her degree in law, was repeatedly questioned about her privileged decisions and how her father, the education minister of India, made the country’s system a living hell. A few comments also responded to the hate, suggesting that families of politicians should not be dragged into the protest. But this conversation is still debatable, right?
While the country awaits PM Modi’s response on the matter, Dharmendra Pradhan shared his first thoughts on the protest against him in a vague message on social media. Calling out Rahul Gandhi, who attended the protest with students outside the PM’s residence, Dharmendra Pradhan called the move a political strategy. He went on to accuse Gandhi of using students as a political tool to his own benefit. On the protest, Pradhan revealed, “We owe our students more than outrage. We owe them answers, reforms and accountability. That is exactly what our government remains committed to delivering.”
The protest intensified on Monday, when the Delhi Police took strict action against the crowd and tried to end the march towards Jantar Mantar with a brutal lathi charge.
